On 01 March 2019 the time has come. After two years of planning and construction the subsidiary of SGF in Chonburi was opened.
Accompanied by a firework of golden glitter, the shareholders of SGF GmbH & Co. KG, together with managing director Michael Weikert and general manager Frank Beernaert, severed the ribbon for the opening of the plant. This was preceded by the traditional solemn ceremony and blessing by the monks. Members of the Embassy, the Foreign Trade Chamber and supervisors of the WHA Industrial Park paid tribute to the opening ceremony. Special thanks was given to the companies and persons involved in the planning and implementation of the construction. Business partners, customers and suppliers from the region also joined the ceremonial opening of the production plant.
With the plant in Thailand, SGF not only expands its global presence. In his opening speech Michael Weikert clearly pointed out that the change in the automotive industry requires a rethinking of suppliers. Not only political influences but also generational change combined with rising environmental awareness increase the pressure on the industry. In particular, the current diesel issue leads to the fact that the most powerful industry champions and even the leaders of automotive technology pay tribute to this change in public perception.
"It’s high time to break out of the comfort zone and look for opportunities that are - in the case of SGF - 8,000 km away from home. The opening of the factory in Thailand shows our excellent employees and loyal customers and suppliers that SGF has recognized the sign of the times, "said Weikert in his speech. With the new plant in Thailand, SGF looks into the future with positive expectations and confident success, as it will be one of its main tools for furthering the company's success story and cutting-edge technology.
